COLONY

The Colony installation (2004) for the Donna Beam Fine Arts Gallery was initially envisioned as fantasy homes for my plants and pet mice. Using modernist design and pet architecture, the spatial forms attempt to transcend social dichotomies of high and low — not by abolishing one of the poles but by linking them, literally with knitted bridges. The plexiglass models and architectural renderings of pet habitrials share a root faith that both problems and resolutions emerge from cooperative living.
